whom your Company has lent to the

Hong Kong Government.

2. The Governor has enquired

whether your Company is prepared to

allow these officers to remain on loan

until other officers can be appointed

in their place, and also whether

your Company would have any objection to

Mr. G. Madgwick and Mr. C.A.K. Jeffery

being offered permanent appointments

in the Hong Kong Government service.

The Secretary of State would be glad to

learn what reply should be returned to

the Governor on these points.

3. As the Governor desires a
